d3t welcomes Aidan Clear, Senior Programmer

Please detail a bit of information about your experience/career background?

I have been a Software Developer for 10 years where I have worked on a variety of different projects for a mixture of both small and large companies. I have also spent four years at Dell, where I was responsible for developing diagnostic and automation scripts for testing hard drives such as SAS and NVMe.

In 2019, I was also part of the team working on the CARLA simulator for autonomous driving research in Barcelona, and most recently, I have been working on VR streaming technology at Simul Software.

Why d3t?

My ambition has always been to work on games and d3t allows me the opportunity to work on a variety of different AAA games across multiple platforms. Furthermore, d3t is renowned for being a great place to work and has a great reputation within the industry.

What do you love about games?

I love the empowerment that games give to players, especially in single-player games. Games allow players to have experiences that are either not possible or prohibited in the real world all whilst being challenging, rewarding and most importantly, fun.

What games are you currently playing, and what is your favourite game?

I’m currently playing Red Dead Redemption on PS4; however, my favourite game of all time is Grand Theft Auto: Vice City with Metal Gear Solid coming in as a close second.

Do you have any fun facts or hobbies?

Apart from playing games, I enjoy both rugby and football, where I’m a proud Leinster and Liverpool FC supporter. In my free time I also enjoy working on my game engine side project.
