d3t welcomes Meg Rouncefield, Senior Designer

19th Jul 2022

Please detail a bit of information about your experience/career background?

I’d say my experience (or at very least my passion for design) began around the tender age of 12 when I’d love-bomb CVG magazine with my various game designs and bad Sonic fan art. I later began applying this passion to modding and creating maps for Warcraft 3, as well as other titles. After I finished University, I broke into the industry with my first job at TT Games where I was able to get experience in combat, level, and technical design as well as scripting.

Why d3t?

From what I’ve seen and heard, d3t seems to care deeply about their employees, and everyone who works there appears to really love the studio! It’s also a bonus that d3t takes on different projects as I’ll be able to gain experience in a variety of genres. d3t’s values also align closely with my own – especially when it comes to making games accessible for everyone!

What do you love about games?

I’ve always loved playing games as a way of escaping the world – and in a way, the confinements of my own body. Games have granted me abilities I could never have in real life and have whisked me away to places I could only dream of visiting. They’ve made sure I’ve never lost my inner child, and I’m still overwhelmed with joy when beginning a new one, as I was the first time I picked one up.

What games are you currently playing, and what is your favourite game?

I’m slowly making my way through Elden Ring in an attempt to savour every part of it. I’m massively into good environmental storytelling and deep game systems, so it’s pressing all of my “oooh” buttons. I also love Rogue-lites, and find myself jumping back into Hades, Loop Hero, and Dead Cells for just one more run.

In terms of my favourite game… I’d be hard-pressed to make a choice between Ikaruga, Tetris, and Portal 2. All of which I think are absolute gaming perfection.

Do you have any fun facts or hobbies?

I could probably fill a page with my hobbies, so I’ll go with a fun(?) fact. I once attempted to capture a kestrel using a pair of oven gloves, a pack of Waitrose bacon, and a sock. Needless to say, the kestrel got the last laugh…
